I agree with taking the emission junk off. If you do go with the new intake system, since you've got it that far apart, why not a cam and new lifters. This will get you a lot more torque and hp. summit racing catalog has them at a cheap price.(also PAW catalog) For towing, you can get a cam that will get its hp & torque in the low rpm or for stoplight to stoplight one that gets it at 5000 or so. For 4-wheel'n & towing the low rpm, high torque cams are the best. Aside from junking the emissions a reprofiled cam/lifter kit is the most bang for the buck. The cam that came with the truck was built with emmisions in mind.

Ok you guys have not seen this truck in person!!!!! It's not worth sinking major $$ into it like a new motor.
Unless you are going to buy a new truck, just let me re-build the carb, and throw the intake and **** on. None of that stuff will kill the motor. That motor will run for a long time. It will outlast that body by 20 years!. It will tow the FD just fine. Just need to get a hitch kit, cuz I know that bumper does'nt have the strenght rating to tow a car.
You allready bought the ****, just go with it :bigok:
