Thumbs down

The pacific north west got hit by a nice snow storm on Saturday, and of course that was the day I chose to go pick up my friend in Portland (400 miles round trip). The drive down there wasn't too bad, rain and snow mixed, and it wasn't sticking on the roads. Then when I was leaving Portland it just started to DUMP snow. Roads were SOOOO shitty comming back. I was just south of Olympia, and the lane I was in was getting pretty shitty. So I figured that I'd get in the lane to the right of me, a little less snow there. I started to merge into that lane, and as soon as all 4 tires were in the snow/slush, my back end just came spinning around, and there was no stopping it! :frown: So I went spinning off of I-5 onto the shoulder. Luckily a truck stopped and pulled my car out of the ditch I was stuck in. The cool thing is that I didn't hit anyone, my friend and I were ok, and my 7 was fine. I guess I had to remind myself that my car SUCKS in the snow! The spin reminded me of some **** you'd see on Grand Turismo!

I'm going to have a fun drive home from work tonight too. The roads are already all icy. I think that I'll be leaving my work a little early tonight. I hate black ice too!

It is when the road gets a nice sheet of ice on it, but the road just looks like it is wet.

Yea, the roads were shitty tonight. All that ice = no traction. Mostly just the side streats though, the freeway and main thoroughfares were pretty clear. The news said there might be fog in the morning, that might lay down some blackice. And more snow tomorrow! I don't mind the snow, but I wouldn't want to drive my 1st gen in it.

Black Ice. That's when in heavy traffic and it's very cold the cars exhaust water and soot freeze and you can't tell the road has ice on it.

Well now that the storm is pretty much over, how much snow did you guy's accumulate? We got 7.5 inches. Its times like this that I just love my Jeep. There is a pretty steep hill by my house that was a mess yesterday. I was doing just fine going down nice and slow, but had to turn around and go back up because I couldn't get around all the cars that were in the ditch. Six cars, including a big cube van were off the road. They ended up closing it down not long after I had been up there. Now it is a big slushy mess!

I got over 4.5" just last night. That is on top of the 6" I got on Sat./Sun. So a little over 10" total. You know everyone from places that usually get alot of snow are laughing at us here in the PNW. :newlaugh:

Yea, a few inches seem to cause chaos around here.
