tell them you want compounding interest on top of the money they owe because of the time value worth of money.

Every day goes by that you could've invested the 1700 they owe you in a GIC. Tell them you want to be compensated for the interest earned on the 1700 because they were late giving it to you and that you would've invested that money to earn the interest.

Else tell them u want to sue them.
