man, I swear I'm too nice sometimes. I was on my motorcycle, when a woman changed lanes and clipped me. I had highway bars with pegs on them, all it did was swivel the peg around. If it was another couple inches, I would've been on the ground in oncoming traffic. I just told her not to worry about it, and left. I think it bent her fender some.

I wouldn't have called a cop or anything, but I should've really bitched her out, just so she would be more careful.

Ok I've given this even more thought and I don't get it.

Here's the example I have in my head.

You post a topic called "Went to the Buffet and ate a ton"

The topic entails how you ate a shitload of food, had a great time, etc, etc...

Now, I post a reply that says "It makes me sick to watch people stuff their faces at buffets, people that do that should be taken out and shot for being a waste of oxygen".

Now, am I just expressing an opinion, or did I just bust your *****? I busted your *****, you can't just make a post in a topic and comment on the situation and "say I hate people that do the thing you just did, without busting their *****".

Personally I take offense to the indication that I don't own up to my mistakes. i certainly don't claim to be a beacon of saint hood and I've made my share of mistakes in life (****** a) but I always own up to them and I always try to take something awy from them of value.
you know what they say about arguing on the internet, but here goes:

a better analogy would be someone posting a thread saying "I pigged out at McDonalds every day for a month, and I got fat. I can't believe it!"

my post is the equivalent of "If someone pigs out at McDonalds, they should expect to get fat"

a 15mph impact is enough to total a car. tapping someone is as close as you can get to causing a lot of harm to them/their car without actually doing it. it's a damn lucky close call that's a consequence of what i was pointing out as irresponsible driving (maybe this is what you're misconstruing this as an accusation of not taking financial responsibility).

to be clear: it is IMO shitty-*** driving if you can't stop your car in time to avoid hitting someone you're following if they stop (especially if you've got the braking and handling advantage of an RX-7). someone pulling out in front of you, etc is obviously another matter.

so you almost really fucked someone's **** up. there's reason for them to be pissed.

if that's busting your *****, then here's a kick in the nads. if it's just me expressing my opinion, then it's business as usual in the special olympics.

If your pulling out onto a road behind someone your not exactly looking at the car in front of you your looking to the side to make sure you have room to pull out. You are taking for granted that the person in front of you has pulled out and moved on not pulled out panicked, and stopped.

Phins admitted he was in the wrong. What more do you want.

The issue at hand is, Yes, we all make mistakes how you react to someone elses mistake says alot about you as a person.

Make a giant issue out of it your a jerk

Say "Hey, it was a mistake, no damage was done I am sure you learned from it lets move on w/ our lives" - Then your a cool person in my book no hell bent on teaching someone a lesson.

I think Phins dad just did that to some one a few weeks ago. Said no big deal and moved on with his life.

actually, i don't take that for granted -- i check to be sure i have room as well look where i'm going. it's not that hard, and it helps one avoid pointless accidents as well as avoid running over pedestrians and cyclists. as a cyclist i've had to dodge plenty of folks doing just what you describe and even ended up bouncing off some *******'s jeep as he blew a stop looking the wrong way.

phins said he was at fault and i never contested it. i'm arguing that if you endanger someone, expect them to be pissed. if they are nice about you almost or actually ******* them over, lucky you, but if they aren't glad to have your car kissing their ***, don't cry about it.

"mistakes" in traffic kill a lot of people. this isn't bumping someone's shopping cart in a race to the express lane. this is 1.5+ tons of steel, and if you're not in control of it, you're endangering the people around you. just because it's the american way to not be in control of your vehicle doesn't make it any less stupid. i make a huge issue out of it because it affects whether i get to live another day or not. i'm kind of attached to living, so call me a jerk if you must.

He didnt run over any pedestrians he "tapped" the car in front of him. At what point was he not in control of his vehicle?

I could agrue that people should not mod their cars and 500 HP cars have no business being on the street using the same argumant your using.

Again you miss the whole point of this thread. There are 2 kinds people in this world. Unfortunatly for Phins he found an *******.

did he intend to tap the person in front of him? i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say "No". let me spell out what that means. Phin's car did something that he didn't intend for it to do. that is to say it was not in his control.

i'd like to see you make that argument, jim.

so the whole point of this thread is to divide the world neatly into 2 groups of people? i was mislead.

thanks, jim

It's pretty hard to keep up with what YOUR point is, one minute your saying I'm ******* because I didn't take financial responsibility, the next it's because it's my fault and you think I said otherwise and now it's something else.

You're obviously right no matter what ship your riding on and if that one starts to sink you'll hop another and claim you were never on the other one.

I'll go back with the adults

I'm sure you've never made any mistakes in your life or had an auto accident, you are obviously flawless by the fact you're busting my ***** on something that already busted my own ***** in on the original post.

If you have ever made a mistake, them you're an idiot and an ******* for doing it... of course that's just my opinion
