Borrowed a co-workers red 90 miata with just over 200,000 kms on it. Damn I like it. It's a bit under powered with the 1.6L stock engine and stock exhaust but man what fun. You need to keep shifting hte gears and keep the rpms above 4000 to do anything, but that make it fun. The surgical handling, the response, the feel. Wow.... So much better than my 03 legacy GT or even my 89TII.

What the hell was I thinking when I got either of those cars

I've only previously driven the miata at the dearlerships and at an autox course, never for 1/2 the day around town and such...

TylerTRD 06-26-2005 12:54 PM

OUCH!!!!!!!!!! You win this round. But I will win the respect

PhoenixDownVII 06-26-2005 09:23 PM

Coincidentally, I drove my first Miata recently as well. It had only 16,000 miles! A maroon "M" edition.

It was fun FWIW, I can't believe you were moreso impressed driving one for a 1/2 day than at the track...lol

vosko 06-26-2005 10:52 PM

94+ are even better!!!

89 Rag 06-26-2005 11:02 PM

Miata's are for girls, or men 50+ that can't afford a 32 coupe.

cymfc3s 06-26-2005 11:07 PM

I like miatas, problem is I dont well in them. The steering wheel is always touching the inside part of my legs

Il RX8 lI 06-27-2005 12:07 AM

I've only ridden in one, I can see me having one later on.

mazdaspeed7 06-27-2005 12:09 AM

Im too tall to comfortably fit in one. That is the ONLY reason I havent bought one yet.

I have that problem too...

Damn it Mazda Canada is offereing 0% fiancing for 48 months, and 1.9% for 60 months. I get to use my 750 dollar off new grad rebate, and it's cost + 3% on any color I want and any trim level I want.

TYSON 06-27-2005 08:55 AM

plus you get another 0.5% off financing for being an existing Mazda customer.

l8t apex 06-27-2005 09:05 AM

I love racing them on the track.Done many events with them. I rather the speed of the FD on the street though.

Unless its this miata with a PP!

Cheers! 06-27-2005 10:41 AM

that mazdaspeed miata is 35k cdn brand new. With taxes and etc it would be 41k financed. With hookups that would probably be around 36 on the road.

Thing is I paid 22k + taxes for my 03 legacy GT brand new. Using a more expensive car with longer finacing terms is not a good idea to reduce debt load, which is what I'm trying to do. Looking at teh Ontario used car market miatas don't seem to depriciate past the 10k cash mark regardless of how nice or crap the condition of the car is.

Screw that. Get the older model, used, for el_cheapo and just have fun! Pay cash!

The older ones are lighter and more capable from what I read and hear from Miata-nuts.

TYSON 06-27-2005 10:58 AM

A supercharged M1 finished second to supercharged M2 yesterday at the WOSCA regional autocross.

One of the WOSCA guys just moved from an older Maita to the new Mazdaspeed one, he's pretty happy with it.

Yeah, I heard pre '99 ones were lighter by a good bit.
