maybe we are thinking different things here. Not too many places I know of, or would bother going to that play trance anymore. Besides

the occasional passing thru DJ like PVD or something. Twilo used to be good for some guest djs now and then, but they have been closed along time. Here in NY, trance is almost dead. Shame too, I liked it.

Name some of these trance clubs and who the dj is because I dont know of any. I was emailing Matt Darey back and forth about spinning one night in NY and he didnt even know what club he would do it in, that was like a year ago, its only gotten worse now.

We're still going strong here on Trance, new clubs are opening up monthly and they're great. Some of the songs are older, but that's not the point. The point is that the people here haven't listened to them yet. LOL, I have some new ****, **** not even on CD's yet, but it's a shame posting that because nobody will be able to find it.

rob, by trance do you mean it can ionclude vocals and such or do you mean just hypnotic songs?

the biggest clubs in NYC in which dj's spin are "exit", "sound factory", and "roxy". i dont think they fit the definition of trance, but they generally cater to guest dj's of all different styles. i know a bunch more but theyre not so large

buddy of mine promoted for exit for a few years then went to roxy for a while now is back at exit.

every time he brings me down there its always packed. Always a good time. I waited for two ****** hours outside of SF to see George Acosta and it was definitely worth it.

Ferry Corsten is really good live too.

And i personally am a Tony Draper fan.

my family is good friends with the owner's of the former club "the tunnel" who introduced us to the owners of exit and SF. We have dinner and stuff like that with them every now and then, my sister is ALWAYS in exit. We've been on the list since i was a freshman in high school, there is no line for me, or id check when i was under 18 .

roxy i don't go to unless everyone i know is going because i have to wait in line there lol.

at my prom is was great, everyone from their own proms were waiting around the entire block, we got dropped off in front, a group of about 10 of us, i walked up to the front, said who i was and who was with me, walked inside .

there's a couple smaller clubs like metro, arena, liquid etc, most are considered just teen clubs but sometimes they're fun. liquid had a great foam party not too long ago, 5 feet of foam woo!

kevin.

edit: Actually I've been able to skip the line once or twice at roxy because my friend from way back when i was in seventh grade, louis todaro, is now an emerging dj (dj todaro) up in NYC and he put me on his list when he's been at roxy (i think once, but for some reason i remember skipping line twice).

Oh also, ever been inside the white room at exit? Whenever i bring a chick in there it's pretty much a guaranteed score .

Exit is closed.

Roxy is a gay club on Saturdays with thier own gay DJ, and once in a rare while they get a guest dj on a friday.

Exit is closed and has been closed for months now.

The club was lame and was a joke, the out in the open drug

dealing got it closed. It almost didnt matter because Saturday nights Junior Vasquez was the dj there, he was the former resident DJ of Twilo, when they got closed Junior Vasquez took his party to Exit, which renamed itself and was also "homesexual men only" on Saturday nights before they closed. You can also thank ********* passing out on GHB for this club closing.

Tunnel had one owner, Peter Gatien, who also owned the now sold

Limelight, which is under new ownership and a extremely commercial club now, no name djs spin there. Tunnel has been closed for many years.

SF is owned by one man, no "owners", they have had the same DJ on Saturday nights, Jonathan Peters for the last 7 years, he has only missed 2-3 nights, those nights were when the club got closed down and no one opens for him, he spins from 11:00pm till close, which is usually in the afternoon and once in a while 1am MONDAY, he has many times spun for 24+ hours straight.

No one else spins on a Saturday at SF. VERY rarely SF has a guest dj on a Friday, the Friday party isnt too great at SF, PVD, George Acosta spun there once each, and every now and then on a holiday weekday they have a guest DJ, Tieso spun there once. Trance is all but dead here in NY, trust me I know, lol.

Unfortunetly here in NY the drugs dominate the clubs, and with

drugs changing so does people's taste for music. When it was mostly

E+K the music was more trance , more vocals, now its GHB and Crytal meth so the music is more tech and hard. The same will happen in your corners of the world.

I know Exit, SF, and Arena were all shutdown the same night for drugs but all three were re-opened the next weekend, my friend gus was just selling tickets to one of the events at exit.

Tunnel has been closed for along time, something you can actually trace back to my town. A bunch of kids were selling "bad" pills which would cause seizures, foaming at the mouth, and eventual death. How many times was the place raided before it's eventual shutdown? They are supposively reopening this summer, or next, it's been in the rumor mill for a short while.

When i said "owners" i meant the respective people who own exit and SF (if i said "owner of exit and SF" you would've thought i meant one person owned both).

Don't you ever go on fridays?

Exit had lots of guest djs, especially when vasquez left for like 2-3 weeks or so. Both Exit and SF have had up all night parties, if i recall correctly exit had an annual up all weekend thing where it started friday night and ended monday morning, or sunday morning, something like that. I was never at one but my friend Joe said he went to it last year.

As for the drugs, can you blame the dealers? i mean you get a ton of ignorant kids with wads of cash going to "party" how can a dealer be blamed for simply turning an easy profit? Personally i think the city is to blame for not being able to crack down on anything but the minor operations of drugs, and also the clubs for not having a solid drug finding program, it's like 1 in a 100 kids gets searched and thats only if you make it obvious.

Crystal meth i don't think will rise up as much as E and K have because it seriously ***** up your brain, E doesnt stand close to it in long term effects, K i could see causing some bad damage but again not even in the shadow of crystal meth.

Acid is regaining it's popularity once again after a short withdrawl, and shrooms are slowly regaining popularity as well.

Personally i think coke is taking a major uprising in our society, i mean when i was doing it it wasnt to hard to find other people who wanted/needed some. Weed of course will never be killed because it's impossible to defend against it's entrance into the states.

speaking of drugs im 70 days sober as of today (of just about every drug except heroin, and no im not bragging im just ******* proud of myself), the amount of extra money i have is a-*******-mazing.

Exit is only open for private parties now, they were definitly not open

the week after they got closed down because it took SF 2 weeks to re-open

afterwords and exit is still closed.

Are we talking about the same closing from a few months ago

or are you thinking the one from a few years ago?

As for the drug scene, I could care less what people do, as long as they

are discrete. The press and the police go nuts because one person dies in

a year or so, usually because they are stupid and mix drugs like a cocktail,

factor in the high heat and the occasional one with prior medical problems

and you get the idea. A big NYC club on a Saturday night will bring in 4000-5000 people, it sounds terrible, but for the amount of people who go every week the casualty ratio is

next to nothing.

How many people drive home from a bar drunk and kill people and what not, but you dont see them standing outside of bars waiting to pull people over and bust them.

Its GHB that has been the downfall of the NYC club scene.

Its not good when people are passing out and cannot be woken up no matter what,

until the GHB wears off that is. Then if they were drinking booze or doing other downers

thats when people die doing GHB.

I have alot of friends who make thier living, the honest way, from clubs. My gf's brother

is a producer ( while he hasnt done much lately living off his royalties from the freestyle days ), I know plenty of DJs and the guy who leases the lighting equipment to the clubs, the scene is changed, its no longer about the music but rather its kids going out just to get fucked up.

congrats on your sobriety, keep it up
