so i sold my t2 about a year ago. and i just got a letter in the mail from the state of california demanding registration for the car. this means that the guy who has it now, hasnt registered the damn thing.
so, i can think of a couple solutions;
1. repo! i could call it in stolen, if the registration is in my name i own it right?
2. write arney a letter telling him i sold the thing, prolly wont work
3. try to find the car, and the guy and make him reg it....

Interesting. Here in Virginia, we title a vehicle to denote ownership. The Commonwealth could care if it's registered or not. The registration is only necessary if you are actually pulled over by a nice policeman, since only vehicles that are registered can be legally operated on state roads.
My '66 chevy for instance is titled, but not registered or insured since it has no hope of seeing the open highway for at least another year or two.
Here in Virginia, I would simply tell DMV that the car was sold to so-and-so on such-and-such date. Hopefully I would have a bill of sale to support that claim.

call him from a payphone and ask him if he still has the pink slip and such for it. if he says no, then report it stolen!
dont you think he will know who is calling him regardless that the call came from a pay phone?
who else would know he had the car except the person who sold it to him?
