Default how are you guys doing

So I hate the phrase but "real talk" guys how are you able to keep driving our high maintenance low fuel economy cars? Im a 26 year old father of two soon to be three make 50k a year only income in the house. My second gen has been sitting in the driveway needing a rebuild for the past year, I just can't manage to come up with the funds to do it. Its been really tough over the last few months to make ends meet and im just wondering if im missing something. What are some of you guys doing to stay afloat im sure im not the only one in this position.

I'm 29, 2 kids, full time job and also part-time MBA student. My FC has been sitting unfinished for, I don't know, at least 3 years now.

But I've developed a serious love for minivans.

26, one year old son, and enough debt to make russia feel better about it's economy lol. my fd has been sitting since last summer since it developed an electrical issue that I haven't had time to look into working 50-60 hrs a week. furthermore it's been on the break in tune for going on 2 years because when I had the engine built I was doing government contracting. by the time it was broken in and ready for the final tune I was no longer with the company and broke. I think we're more like a support group for each other because only another rotary owner understands the bond felt with the car, and the loathing of the issues that arise. we help each other figure out the issues and find cheaper options and that's about the best we can do.

Mines been sitting for two years, no time to do anything with it and not enough money to pay someone to do the work.... So, who knows lol. I get motivated now and then and by the time I'm ready to work some other major project has reared it's head.

I actually worked on mine recently. I had to buy an extra-long tap, because some of my timing cover and water pump mounting holes were all boogered up, but I didn't want to remove my timing cover (held on with 2 bolts) because it would mess up my oil pan gasket (I had to pull the engine out to change that gasket).

So I paid over $50 for one tap from Grainger. Tapped the holes. Bought 10 bolts of proper thread, then measured and cut them all down to correct size.

This took all day, and all I accomplished was bolting my water pump/timing cover in place (not permanent, just a dry fit, need to put gasket sealant on).

I bought mine and then found out the engine was weak real low compression and hard to start I figured a rebuild would be best a good friend gave me a set of irons and housings I bought all the seals just need apex, corner seals and springs. Someday I will have it running again.

I turn 40 in a week or there abouts, I have 2 kids, I am self employed doing a ton of different kind of things, some of it rx7 related.. Just to busy most of the time to get any work done in the shop, most of the time I spend working on my larger contracts that continually feed me paying work..
I have my rew FC that I just rebuilt the FPR on, ready to go at 470 rwhp. I am putting a 20b FC widebody road race car together slowly along with a turbo Peri-port FD.
I am lucky that I work mostly in a sector that never slows down, but also unlucky in that I don't have as much time as I would like for my own projects. The Alberta economy never really slowed that much, oil dipped a bit a few years ago, but went right back up to around the 90-100 mark, which means this area will continue to grow economically.
