Actually, it's not just Kia. The brand new (in '89) Mazda 626 I bought was delivered with a (nearly) dead Panasonic crapass battery. The new replacement (also Panasonic) lasted about 2.5 years before it too joined the shitpile. Then I bought a real battery.
And yes, if I drove 3 hours for nothing I'd probably be spraying bullets with my Uzi.
