How much would you pay for a 87 13B long block(alt, p/s, a/c, flywheel, clutch, dist., etc.) that has been sitting in a machine shop for 5 years but could have been sitting even longer than that (it came from an engine recycler). The motor and external components seem like its in good conditon(low miles) though very dusty on the outside. I turned the engine over by hand and I could here the compression stages thru the exhaust manifold (Although, I need to go back and remove the leading plugs to check for 3 even swooshes for each rotor). It doens't have oil in the pan and was filled with ATF when the shop received 5 years ago. The guy who owns the shop and the motor wants $500 for the long-block. Would you pay that much for the motor? I was thinking I would pay a max of 300 for it since it has been sitting so long. How much would you offer for the engine?

I concur. If it was worth the $500 the guy is asking, it wouldn't still be sitting there 5 years later.

Yeah, I'm worried about the water seals...and it doesn't included the tranny.

well, thats the problem. it really should get torn down, and the water seals and rotor oil seal o rings changed. if its a low miles engine, then everything else should be really nice.
