i'm surprsied by rob's post, it's not like the french are the only people against war with iraq, and their refusal to jump on the war-wagon in the UN arena doesnt reflect on the french as being pussies at all. This is the whole purpose of the UN, if the members simply conform and let the US do whatever it pleases there might as well be no UN. War with Iraq will have a large effect on many of the neighboring countries so there's no surprise that they would like to avoid war until exhausting the diplomatic route. It's pretty stupid on the US part to commit > 200,000 units to war when attacking isn't even a reasonable act, yet. Imagine how much resources will have been wasted if those units return a few weeks from now, with the US still not controlling the region.
We don't care here, we're barely affected by war with Iraq (negatively). Like always, the american public is shielded from the realities of their governments actions... like so many things in this country. People send their elderly to homes, waiting to die. Their pets to vets to be put to sleep. Their children on antidepressants. it's rare that anyone of any importance (taxpayer/voter) actually has any personal experience with death, pain, or suffering. We're the Prozac nation, and who are the real pussies? Numbed from reality, AKA American. '9/11' was the closest this country has been to reality in a long time, and relatively speaking, it's a minor loss of civilian lives. Compare it to what _we_ did to Nagasaki or Hiroshima, and it's just a blip.
this should have been a journal entry but it happened here, sorry guys.

Ok, call me stupid. . . But are you ****** joking me?!?!?
Like really, so someone has a difference of opinion. . so you what?
Stop saying their name?!?! What is this. . grade school!
I'm sorry guys, I'm sure some of you feel pretty stongly about this.
But from where I stand, it seems a little silly.
Sometimes things get renamed. . but it's usually because you're at war with them!
I have a city here in Ontario that was once called Berlin, but is no more.
Instead of getting all mad about a diffent point of view, why not try and understand it. So they believe differently, are they not entilitled to their opinion.
I know there is no love lost between the States and France. But at the end of the day they have every right to choose which option they like best.
Common. . . they're French Fries!! Let it go. . . .

People in this country get too fired up over crap that means nothing. Worrying about symbolism and all of that crap is for English and art classes, not real life.
