i read something about aristotle's beliefs that said, "Happiness the the ultimate purpose of human existence."

"Probably because you have bills to pay and people to feed. And because you want ****."

that seems like the simple answer. but ultimately i am asking "why are you doing it" (as opposed to "what you are doing it for").

does getting **** make you truly happy?

does doing what you do to get your **** make you happy?

or am i missing the point?

I work to pay bills and to eat food, and so I can have nice **** to play with so I won't be bored when I'm not working to pay bills and eat food.

Obligation learned over years of being exposed to society, and a sevear crack addiction.

Anybody who said money dosent buy happiness is full of ****. I'm honestly dont think I'd enjoy being a multi-billionaire, that removes purpose for life. Being financially comfortable is another thing. I'm a pretty happy dude when I work hard all day, come home and dont have to scrimp pennies for the Crown Royal that goes in my glass. But working hard, for your family and your self is fullfilling. Plus its a fact of life you need money. You can read philosophy all ******* day, but if you dont have ramen noodles on your plate I dont think you'll be that happy.

I work to pay for the rest of my life.

Some people let their job be their whole life. Think about how many people introduce themselves by their name and what they do, it's surprising.

Well i guess giving this post a little thought, I think wut motivates someone to get out of bed, work each day busting their *** to make someone else rich is simpler then we think. First we start out cause we want a car, or a video game or maybe even a hooker. Then ten years go by, we've got some aches and pains and it's a little harder to get out of bed each morning, but we've set our sites on another goal, we're going to retire and travel or smoke cigars or I wutever your fancy is and another 20 or 30 years pass and we've got even more aches and pains and it's even harder to get out of bed in the morning and we're starting to realize that we're too ******* old to to make it to our goal, we can't sail around the world, we cant drink cause it makes us sleep in too late and we're on a downhill slope to a flag we couldn't capture if we had to bend over and pick it up.

Me personally I've prolly slept in too late most my life, drank too much, smoked too much, but I guess I've never had that drive that our previous generations posses and I don't know that I necessarily wish I did, but I certainly respect them for having spent their lives working toward wutever goal it was they had in retirement, most of them prolly died before they made it there of the harsh chemicals they inhaled or the asbestos or the coal dust.

In retrospect i guess i am not all that qualified to answer the question posed.... maybe "how do people do it"

Kind of feel like those birds do, building nests to attract the most wanted and very needed female birds, being able to ensure the continuance of human kind as a species.

Since I'm 27 already and had to work for most of my life I finally got used to this feeling, so I decided to settle down.

(Joined the army and bought myself a sports car to show my direct environment that I'm serious about the settling down part. )

Anyways, I love driving cars fast. Like the sound of rotaries revving at 3500-4500 rpm. Driving fast means occasionally getting a speeding ticket. Getting a speeding ticket enhances the need for money. The need for money can only be satisfied (using legal means) by working in one way or another. Since male prostitutes are very rare and not really wanted in either germany or surroundings, or share very unpleasant fates alltogether, I decided to go for a real job (read join the army for financial comfort and security of having a job for the next 5 years)
