How Do I
#1
This is soooo far off the RX7 topic, it's not even funny; hence my GenD posting..
The front bumper cover of my '92 Bravada is made from body matched ABS plastic.
I wanted to add a different under-the-bumper air dam, but alas, the stock airdam it molded with the bumper cover. I was thinking I could cut the airdam from the original cover, and then cut the new airdam to fit, secure them together with screws and fill the edges with body filler. What does everyone think about this idea?

Should work, I don't see the problem. Sorry, I don't know what kind of filler you'd use though and I'm sure that's what you need to know. I'd assume something that will bond to the fiberglass will bond to the plastic just as easily though

thanks for the reply, I suppose I'm wondering if this is a feasible idea. I have no expierence with body work, and I'm thinking this might be the time to start. I don't want to go hacking up my front bumper cover if this plan wouldn't work.

Yeah fiberglass should work.. Maybe if you do it from behind, just rough up the places where you are gonna place the fiberglass so it will stick properly.. I've seen it done on a couple of cars to fix tears in a bumper skin...

that's the problem... scrap pieces for this truck are pretty hard to come by. Maybe I should just wait till I find a junked F.B. then try it on the junked one. Or, I suppose I could just take it to someone...

You could use screws too, or rivets and that would make it stronger, then just fill them in like you originally had planned.. Try not to use to much filler though cause it will crack.. Any good quality filler should work..
You should PM Rob x-7.. he is a painter..
