Is there a way to get around this? I've heard of installing a vette airpump before, or are these guys slipping the guy at the station a crisp 100 dollar bill?

ah, well basically the turbo in and of itself doesnt affect smog at all. all you need to pass smog is an air pump, main cat and either the acv, or a way to get the air into the exhaust ports

So long as it looks good and doesn't go over the HC they won't care. Looks are everything unless you find some jerk that really inspects things....but don't worry about them they won't be in biz for terribly long.

Hate CA smog laws. Glad I'm not there.
