well i loved 7s' since way back but as everyone eventualy asks is the question "so what is this a 6 cylander" and the kid said no dude Rotary and i was like oh... and i've been an enthusiast since learned what they were about and now own an 87 TII that i bought for $365 as a first car (i'm 16) and i'm a big motor head myself my origonal intentions were to buy a 4th gen. civic sedan since i love civics to death and integras and basicly all import cars (don't get me wrong i LOVE AMERICAN CAR TOO) i'm respector of both ways import and domestic. but i'm def. going to see what can be put done with my 7 and go from there. gotta get lisence and Insurance (which might not be so funny)

this guy came to my job holding a rotor in his hand. I said " Yo what the hell is that".





He: Its part of an engine.

Me: What engine?? Dont engines have pistons..

He: not this engine.

Me: what , what car is this.

He: Mazda RX7





Then i waas hooked since i was 12 yearss old.

My friend just bought a 240SX, so I was looking for a car to call my own in our own little click of friends. I'm driving by this guy working on his S5 in his driveway. I have no clue who he his but I thought the car looked bad ass, so I stumbled up his driveway and inquired,



"Woah nice car, what is it?"

"A 91 RX-7"

"Oh right on! How big is the engine in it?"

"1.3L"

"Woah that's tiny, its probably pretty slow huh?"

"No, it has a rotary engine in it"



The conversation continues, but I remember he talked to me for like 45 minutes about the rotary, and the 50/50 distribution on the cars. Ever since then I fell in love with not only the car, its one of a kind status, but I also knew that the people who owned em were really cool. Thus I craved to be a rotor head.

My Dad bought me my Rx-7 brand new in 1987. I was 17 at the time. My Dad bought my older brother a new car prior to college, myself the RX-7 prior to college and bought my sister an RX-7 prior to her going to college. I didn't really know what I wanted. My brother had gotten a Camaro when he turned 18 before college so I thought I would just follow suit. My Dad and I looked at the Camaros and really didn't want to spend the kind of money on one knowing what would become of it. My bother's turned out to be a pos.



Late one night, my Dad came to me and asked me if I liked the RX-7's. My eyes lit up. Not knowing anything about the rotary engine, I just thought they were the nicest sports car around at the time and also thought they were way out of my league but my Dad and I went to look at them. We found the exact one that I liked. My Dad was not big into turbos so I hose the next down... 1987 Sapphire Blue metallic GXL. We left the dealership with no car and I really did not thnk I was going to get one. A week later my Dad asked me to go back to the dealer to look again. When we got there, the car I had chosen was sitting in the parking lot in front. My Dad and I stopped and looked at it again. He asked me twice if this is the car I liked. I said yes of course. He threw me the keys and said "It's yours." He had arranged during the week to get the keys to suprise me.



Never having driven a standard before, I drove off the lot proud as can be. I knew nothing about rotary engines at all. It was the look and design of the car that attracted me.



I still own that car to this day. I just finished rebuilding it at 152,000 miles. I learned everything I know which is still a minute amount about rotaries from you guys on this forum. And I thank you all.

pretty much thats it.

moved to new jersey kinda knew what they were and what they were about.

i met vosko and at the same time found a real good deal on a 90 gxl.

the rest is history.

for me it would have to be in F&F when Vin Disel owned that 10 sec eclipse. i was like damn that car owns. (please do not pumel me for that was a joke). i've been in the import scene since i turned 16, and the one car that i truly dreamed over was the TT Supra. i know i know, but ever since that hell spawn of a movie the prices for supras are ridiculus. after searching for a year for what kind of car i should get i came across the FD. i had always loved the cars lines and timeless design. it pretty much came down to the BMW M Roadster and the RX7. i did more research and fell in love with the performance abilities and aftermarket support for the FD. then one day my friend calls me and said there was this RX7 for sale up north. drove up, test drove it, and the next day i bought it. now i have the bug, but im not possesed yet. (must go faster, must go faster)

I've always been intrested in cars and my dad had this book called "The Consumers Digest of Collectable Cars" Somewhere along in there my cousin bought an NSU Prinz sedan (2 cylinder, funky little car) and I went to working on it. I looked up NSU in the book and there was the NSU Wankel Spyder. Weeks later I was reading it again and noticed "Hey, duh, it doesn't have pistons what is this thing?" So I started looking into the motor. I was hooked.



A few months later I was drooling over it and my dad said "Hey Mazda makes those I think" so I started looking around for an RX-7. Funny I had seen them before and then when I was really intrested I couldn't find one anywhere. Finally got to look at one but never under the hood.



Forward fast to about 3 years ago. I was sitting in a Vons parking lot waiting for my wife to get out and I saw an RX-7 sitting next to me. I thought "Hey those have rotary engines I sure would like to have one now that I have a job."



Dad, without knowing it, bought a 79 at a Salvation Army auction the next day.
