03 miata. early bird from says "check engine light came on a couple of times about 10 days ago, and is now off"

tech #1, he says we need the variable valve timing valve. so we order it and all the o rings and stuff.

tech #2 walks in this morning with a bulletin that says to replace the ecu.

the resposne is kind like ****. we already ordered a bunch of parts, cars gotta be here now for 2-3 more days.

i look at the bulletin, it says 2001-2002, cars an 03, part numbers are different on the ecu's, tech 2 is wrong...

bulletin is nice, but you have to read them

yes but remember the mpv break clunk. ya it was for early years like 00-02 or what ever but the bulleton would apply to 03s and up as well you just couldnt say the repair was per bulleton in the story or it would have gotten bounced.

True because alot of the tsb's will work they just got tired of trying to fix it at the factory and decided it is more fun for the tech to improvise the repair based on earlier model issues, love the car business
