I don't even know how to respond to SUCH STUPIDITY. . .you have a filter so that you don't get sand and dirt into the engine. I really want to know what was going through their brains as they were doing this. The best part is where he says "We had to hold the gas so it would run." 
What did the car do to disserve a lunch of sand? I can't believe this is true please tell me that this is just some kind of sick joke. . .I've got a sinking feeling that it isn't though.
