As some know I am looking for an FD now. I decided to get an insurance quote for it for ***** and giggles.

WOW! I hate being so young. I was quoted 3404 for 6 month coverage. The cheapest I can go is 1221 for 6 months. I would be paying 567 bucks a month for full coverage.

DAMN! Well, I can say I was paying around 300 a month for my FC, and that was older and N/A.

Damned insurance, it is a 12 year old car. If anyone has a recommendation of what company to go with, I would appreciate it. I did this quote through Progressive. I won't go with Geico, they are the worst, and statefarm won't insure me because I have not been driving for 3 years or more. I hope I can convince my folks to get on there insurance.

Call a broker they can usually get you the best deal, as well as on full coverage, or liability with a broker they can usually take PIP off which is your medical - basically if you are on a medical plan you are taken care of so you don't need to pay for additional coverage with your car insurance. I here ya on it sucks Scotts Vert is as much to ensure as my 2005 mustang - RX7's just arn't cheap to ensure.

Would it kill you to know I pay $140 a month for full coverage on the Rx7 plus liability on my cheap Integra combined?

I'm listed as a driver for the integra, but both are under my father's insurance. The more cars he has insured, the less he pays for each car. Plus we all took the defensive driving course to lower insurance by 15%, and also we all have no tickets thus far...

You should go to one of those places that takes your name and information and shoots it accross a wide variety of insurance companies. Do you have any local ones in town? Sometimes they are better than the big named companies. It really depends, some are high risk companies.

My friend used one of those quote finder thingy's, I'll try and find out the company name.

LOL Ensure is a supplement old people perscribe to, and freaks in town steal to sell on the street.

Insure is something we do to our cars.

I will bring it up to my folks to insure me, I will pay the difference, and a little extra, just to save me some cash for future mods of an FD. Or just money saved up just for rebuilds.

Defensive driving course? Is that done through your DMV/MVA?? I am interested in that. Did it cost you anything? I am thinking about smaller companies also. My g/f is insured through a smaller company, but they don't have sports cars under there insurance. They have Broncos, pickups and an escort. No "fast" cars.

Thanks Amy and Phoenix for the info.

But question is how old are you, and how long have you been driving for?

I am only 20, and been driving for 2 years.

It must be my location I suppose. I am 30 minutes from DC. Maybe that is why it is so high.

But I want to at least get full coverage on the FD. It would be smart to do.

Thanks for the info node and boxrs. Heh, I am going to get an FD faster than Srce ever could.
