From what I've heard, someone died in that crash. It looks entirely possible.

 

Now that I look at it a little closer, I think it is a guy in a red shirt be thrown, not blood spray.

 

I think the red is a course flag. Doesn't look like he had a chance to start waiving it.



Doesn't strike me as a funny video, either.

I have no clue why it is under a funny video either. The first time I saw it it gave me goosebumps. I found this in the Automotive forums and reposted it here.



So if there was a guy with a red flag was he squatting down or something?? I have seen countless poeple get yelled at for squatting down at autocrosses.



When we were in Sebring 2 years ago they had put the workers station I was working right in the line where a car out of wack would go if it missed a gate.



We decided to move our station and n0 more than 3 cars later a S-10 p/u lost it and went spinning through the spot we were standing in.



Yes that was a S-10 Pickup truck. It was lowered and I cannot rmember what class it was in but it actually did pretty good.

 

thats not funny its scary to think people are allowed to stand by the course like that. ive seen one worse where it hit a bunch of people and i got this nasty feeling.

 

Those people standing by the course were most likely course workers.



You have to realize too that Vette stayed in the gas way too long as soon as he got out of wack he should have been hard on the brakes NOT flooring it.

Thats like dancing to the radio in the shower....a wet slick surface surrounded by glass. I dont think I could find a better place.



By the way SOM for that event/ video should be sued. Now that guy can get a real car.
