I'm not sure why, but your network is one of the best performing networks I've ever seen. Not all of us have the same luck. It's not necessarily cheap equipment that causes poor signal. There's a lot of variables and 802.11 is relatively (when compared to cell/cordless phones and radios) sensitive to interference.

Linksys is the most overpriced crap wifi products on the market. Every linksys product i have ever owned, breaks 2 or 3 weeks after the warranty expires.



They make upgraded antenna's you might try that.

I concur, linksys is pretty much garbage. The produced easy-to-setup and reliable 10/100 networks back in the day, but that's about it.

Phins-What would you recommend I use for a wireless adapter? I thought that linksys was pretty decent stuff for the normal consumer market. A system like yours, I am sure, is high end since you have a business to run. I just want the wireless setup on my desktop.



I have no problems getting a signal. It jumps in and out of signal strength from low to high, it all depends if my folks are using there laptops through the router. The laptops are actually hooked into the router with ethernet cables. No wireless for the laptops since my folks mostly sit at the kitchen table when doing business.



We have a D-Link 4 port Wireless Router and a D-Link Cable Modem. I bought a linksys wireless usb adapter because it was 50 bucks which is not bad compared to best buy or circuit city which wanted 75 bucks. Should I try to get one of the D-Link wireless usb adapter?



Thanks for the information also Sinful. If I can't get it to work with all these options I will probably just call comcast up and have them come out and deal with it.

try going to command line (go to run and type in command.exe) and typing ipconfig -release and then once it does that type ipconfig -renew or something like that...been awhile since I have had to do it....

All that's going to do is release and renew your DHCP assigned IP. Usually, the IP's that the DHCP last for an extended period of time - mine was set to 99 days. Anyway, because it all it does is toss and re-request the IP, it doesn't really address network connectivity issues..

The linksys should work great with your DLINK router. I have tested a number of Wireless routers and the DLINK 108 is great, I believe they refer to it as the "super g" They have a special card to get the speeds up to 108Mpbs



Sound liks you have a good ip address from the router so the first thing you need to do is go to DOS and see if you can ping the router. If is a DLINK then the IP is 192.168.0.1 You should get 4 replies.



If you get the replies, then you need to ping past the router. You need to ping both a domain name as well as the ip address. If you cannot ping past the router for both IP and domain name, then you need to check the internal settings of the router and make sure the router is getting a valid IP address from the comcast DHCP server.



Now, if you can ping past the router by both ip address and domain name and you still cannot load pages, then it's something local to the machine. Could be firewall related or something as simple as making sure you do not have a proxy set etc...



If you still do not get this up and running with the basic troubleshooting, pm me.



One more thing, It's always a good idea to do a reset of all devices before troubleshooting. Shut down modem, router and pc. Bring up cable modem, make sure has a good signal (light sequence) then bring up router. After router is online, bring up pc.

I would recommend D-Link it's not all that expensive and I've never had a d-link product **** on me, they always work as advertised, the only downside is they are a little harder to configure then some of the other products on the market.



As I said before, Linksys is CRAP, total waste of money, their products do not perform as advertised, they do not last much longer then their warranty and they are way overpriced.



If you are having issues connecting a 54mps linksys card to a 108 mps d-link router, you need to login to the router and click advanced, then performance. Disable the "turbo" settings, set it to regular. at the top there is a TX rate, make sure that is set to AUTO.



Reboot it and you should be up and running.



The best fix would be to return the linksys card and buy a matching d-link card.



There's really nothing all that business'ish ran off of my wifi system, it's just properly configured and quality parts.

OK. I re-configed the IP. The ip was wrong to what was on the router and modem. But I still get the same thing. It claims I am connected to the access point/router but it says no internet is found. What the hell does that mean? I am connected to the access point which is what it was before, but no internet is found. I tried using Internet Explorer and I used OPERA and still nothing. I am getting slightly frustrated. Oh, and the subnet mask was not even right on the usb adapter.



Help again.

It more then likely means it was unable to handshake and assign you an ip, please read the above remedy I posted.



Also, this is important to do when you are working on a computer, you need to have a screwdriver and a bottle of vodka.
