Ahhh...that's weird. It never made me feel shitty. Then again, once you get closer to your target weight, you're supposed to ween yourself off of the diet while finding out how many carbs you can eat a day without gaining again.

It's healthy because you cut out all of the crappy starches and sugars and only eat proteins with veggies and stuff, on most occasions.

I lost almost 50 lbs on the Atkins diet, worked great for me. I have only gained 8lbs since I weened myself off of it.

I'm down about 70 pounds from where I was years back. I got down to 20 less than where I am now and gained it back when I came back to college, but I'm getting rid of that again too. The problem is that the more you go back and forth off and on it, the slower your body reacts to the change in eating habits.

You can hit a wall in a ketogenic diet like Atkins because your body will stop producing leptin, the hormone which indicates the fed state. Way the pros get around that is a cyclical ketogenic diet, carbing up for 24 hours on Saturday, and staying in ketosis the rest of the week. Diminishes the health concerns, keeps the weight loss going, and a full day of stuffing yourself with whatever you want keeps the carb cravings down.

I go heavy on carbs on Saturdays...I didn't know it could possibly be helpful.
