That's awesome! I've gotta tell my brother about that, he's spending close to that putting together a custom mountain bike already. Bicycling uphill is faster than walking up to some pretty extreme grades, but when you're going offroad loose soil can be a problem--still can't figure out how they made it AWD instead of just 2WD, though.

intresting... i heard about those bikes a couple of years ago on the discovery channel.

Anyhow... 3000 is alirght price for bikes... most high end mountain bikes like cannondale and rocky mouitain are that price range.

What i want to know is how heavy the bike is. It doesn't say anywhere on the site.

It's a pretty good idea if you do a lot of steep uphill, otherwise it's stupid. If you're going up a steep, loose hill, you're leaning forward, which takes the weight off of your rear wheel, making you spin and maybe even chin your handlebars.

I don't think I'd pay $3K for a bike, though. I paid almost a grand for my current bike, and it's plenty for me.

It's called a slip shaft. A lot of driveshafts have them, it's actually pretty easy to do a lot of vehicles have them.
