I think if you were going uphill on a slippery/loose surface, it would make traction better.

It's called a slip shaft. A lot of driveshafts have them, it's actually pretty easy to do a lot of vehicles have them.
I guess I can see that, like the telescoping suspension.

Right up to the point a clump of mud with a small rock in it jams between the gears and you go flying over the bars and slide down a hill on your face!

i would tell my coworker about this bike, but he just broke his hip mountain biking 2 weeks ago and is still recovering. cool bike

the gear assembly is covered not expossed like that all the time.

generally it takes a little longer than 2 weeks

for $3000 you could get a used 4WD jeep cj-5 (i think that's the model).



WASTE OF MONEY! if the grade is that steep, get off your bike and carry it up hill. just added weight anyway.
