A stock Nikii carb?

This guy I know ..that I was workin on his car yesterday has a mint 85 GSL..

He wants me to get it running..After me draining the old gas..charging the battery...letting plugs dry out.and starting it up..the carb was full of gas..I couldnt get the floats to unstick.I knw they are not adjustable floats...BUT what do you guy think about rebuilding it?

This one shop wants $240. just to rebuild it..with it off the car..

I can rebuild Holleys but never attempted a Nikki.

I was thinking of even rejetting it ..BUT I want to get the fucker rebuilt first..

So let me know what you guys think..I wil probally pul the carb today ..and start rebuilding it tonight or tomorrow..if its not a headache..and do I need any specality tools?

i think you can just change the floats. sunk floats is semi common.

Yea mike hit it. My dad has a nikii carb, and his floats got stuck. I think he called up Summit magazine, i may be wrong, and just orderd new floats. He cleaned it all out with gas, took the whole carb apart and cleaned it all, stuck it all together with the new floats, and now she runs like a dream.

Good luck, if you want i can get him to post here later via my name.

rebuilding the stock carb is not hard at all. just do one section at a time. and remember when disasembling the top portion of the carb where all the bolts go exactly because most of them have different lengths! also when putting it back togethe put only a few bolts back in on the top portion(enough to hold the top down) hook the fuel lines back up and then turn the ignition on so the fuel pump can fill the float bowls so you can ck if the floats are stuck after the rebuild, and if they are you only have to remove the fuel lines and 4 bolts or so.

I think this carb comes aprt in 3 major sections..I f I can just change the floats I will just do that instead of a full rebuild..

It sucks you cant adjust these foats..

I havent built a model in like 15 yrs.lol

So I guess this will be fun...but no glue...

It's not hard to do you just have to pay attention.

You can bend the float bar if you really want but it's not going to get you anywhere really

Don't take the carb off the engine.

I agree with rotarydragon. If you can avoid pulling it you might as well leave it alone. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
