Yesterday pretty much sucked...good thing I had RD's sick sense of humor to keep me going. Normally my birthday is a family event, because I have a twin sister and we were born on my mom's birthday, so it's a pretty cool thing (102 candles on the cake this year). However, this year I was here in Iowa for school and stuff, which I didn't think would be too bad, but it sucked a bit. I got up this morning, went to class, and then to work. The ladies in my office bought me lunch, which was really cool, but I had to head out of there early to try and get my TII going in time for this weekend, and also to take a look at the transmission on an MR2. I got out to RD's house after stopping to pick up the seal that was holding up the whole job (on his cute little seal nose) and after my wonderful conversation with the kid at the parts store, who had a Civic with $12,500 under the hood and was pushing out 210 fwhp at 11,500 RPM. Yeah...what a ******* idiot. Anyway, we tried to get the pilot bearing into my car, ended up bending the casing, so we had to go out and get another one. Of course, the only place that had one was the Napa warehouse on the other side of the city, so off we go. John says "let's stop and grab the puller on the way over" and I say "Nah, we can just get it on the way back...I want to make sure I have the bearing first." That turned out to be a huge waste of time, but oh well. On the way to get the bearing, the MR2 kid calls and says he's on his way. I figure we'll be back in time to meet him at John's, but that didn't turn out as planned either. Surprise surprise. So we go to Napa and ask about the part. The guy looks it up and says "that's not here. this is the Douglas store. You want the east Douglas store. " Yikes, now we're in for a drive. That's why we should have gotten the puller on the way over. Ok, long story longer, we get the new bearing, get it into the exact same spot as where we killed the old one (not far enough in, but at least this one isn't damaged yet) and John figures out that the MR2 is going to need to have the tranny dropped (we were hoping for linkage/bushing problems). After all of that fun and zero progress on my car, I go off to load trucks at UPS after getting no sleep today. Hot dang, happy birthday to me.

Next year, it's going to be family, friends, food, and booze...and that's it!
