I'm gonna be buying a handgun here pretty soon. I've always wanted to get one and now seems like a good time. I figure it will give me a chance to spend some time with my old man since I don't see him as much since I moved out.

I'm looking into the Sig Sauer's. I went to the store the other day and checked out a few different brands and the Sig seemed like a really nice, good quality gun for the money. The guy at the store couldn't say enough good things about them. Basically this would be for general target shooting and whatnot but also for personal protection if the need ever arises.

I'm leaning towards either 9mm or .40 caliber. Ammo for the 9mm is cheap and easy to find, but the .40 has more PUNCH to it. Not really sure yet what I'll get. I plan on going to the indoor range and shooting a bunch of different guns and then deciding which I like best, rather then just buy one.

What do you guys have? Do you like it? What do you recommend?

Glock 23, the 9mm and the 40 cal are almost the same. Both are really perfect self defense rounds. Good punch and good size.

Mines a 40, i for whatever reason like the feel of the 40 better.
