Guns are like sports cars. Do you REALLY need all that horsepower to go to and from work/school? We all love our sportscars because they're fun. Same thing for the gun enthusiast. Put the keys away to your 400 hp rx-7 and lock up your AR-15 at night. Simple math.

I do agree that guns are like sports cars, it's just another fun hobby. My dad was a cop for a few years when I was young. When you grow up around them, it's no big deal.

But as far as keeping them all under lock and key, I don't think a robber is going to wait on you to get your gun from the safe before he hurts you.

Maybe lock it up in the small by the bed safe that you can open in a matter of seconds... All mine but a few are locked up, I have one downstairs loaded and one by the bed loaded (the one I usually carry). Maybe a few in my range bag if I'm lazy and haven't put them up yet... Once I have kids, those two will be locked in a small easy access safe. They have some now that open by your thumb print. They run off batteries with a plug for back up power. Pretty neat little safe. At least that would be as quick to grap as one would just laying in the drawer. I don't keep mine in the open but they are in easy access areas if someone knew where to look.

Once I get my concealed, I'll have my Nighthawk custom 1911 within arms reach 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

My shotty isn't locked up, but if you were to come to my place you wouldn't see it, unless you asked or were not welcome
