is it true that they require you to have almost perfect vision, and that you cant have corrective lenses?
Yeah RotaryDragon, I just turned 25. I must say I'm concerned about joining so late. Pilot spots are highly sought after and there is definitley competition from younger cadets. I'm graduating next year and there is a big question mark where my future should be. So, I decided to take the chance and give it a shot. The ROTC program I applyed for is a one-year program, which means next summer after I graduate I'll have to spend 7-weeks training, rather than four for the regular 4-year ROTC cadets. The advantage of going the ROTC route is getting a commission on the day I graduate, which'll make me 25. No spring chicken, but I'm in good shape and as long as I'm commisioned and in flight school before age 29, they'll let me fly. I just have to study hard and make the grades.
Navy is cool bigtime, I agree. Nothing looks near as exciting as trapping off a carrier in the middle of the night, those guys are awesome. But Air Force pays more and its a bit easier on your personal life.
