I have the perfect solution to this conundrum...

Ban SUV's, pickups, semis, luxury cars, minivans, and sports cars in non-rural areas... This way, all vehicles will have nearly identical power levels, weights, centers of gravity, and performance levels. In all reality, the true killer in any accident is size disproportionality and speed. If you take those two components out of the mix, well, then deaths will only result from random flukes, and driver stupidity.

And for all of you who are intelligent to live in rural areas... Drive the biggest damn truck or suv you can find, cause, in all reality, you are one of the chosen few who actually use the vehicle for its intended purpose... And you also most likely understand the inherent disadvantages to driving the vehicle.

i agree that the things are useful, and yes its nice to have them on your side. Im just saying i'd appreciate them a lot more on a vehicle that was designed smarter from the beginning.

but yea back to the thread lol.

kevin.

If a vehicle were designed ideally from the beginning, there would be no need for safety devices such as active stability control, etc... The problem is that unless you are driving an F1 car or a train around, your vehicle is a compromise.

The fact of the matter is that these "electronic control systems" are very effective means to overcoming often unsolvable engineering hurdles. It sure would be nice if my jeep could ride 2 inches off the ground... but then again, I'm not an overly large fan of getting stuck on speedbumps...

i dont see any 300ton dumptrucks falling over....they're surely over 2 inches off the ground?

I won't get into this debate again. you're telling me that the design of all these suv's is the optimal design and cant be improved on from the starting point, ohhhhh kay. lets go band-aids.

hahaha. ban vehicles? lmao. the gov't does not have time for stupid bullshit like that. and the fact that the size of the vehicle and the speed of the vehicle is a main factor in death during a crash? yeah ******* right dude. a corvette at 55mph running straight into a wall has more chances of the front bumper going into the firewall than an explorer, cherokee does. think about it for a quick second, don't just come back with some stupid *** comment.

and another fact, why cars are not like F1 race cars. think about it, yet again. how many F1 race cars are on a track at a given time? how many cars are on one stretch of highway one mile long at a given time? probably double maybe even triple the amount of an F1 race car event.

wOOt! if the car is deisigned right, you shouldnt need stability control

I think they should just make people take driving tests every once in a while. There are too many dumbasses on the road. I have been on the road a good amount of time and have not flipped any car or SUV (even ones that were lifted) over. I am on my 6th car/suv/truck so it is not like i have been driving the 7 forever.

Well the suvs wouldnt be as bad if people didnt drive them like fools. They act like they have some small car trying to whip it around when the fact of the matter is a slight bump in a turn will shift the weight and be enough to **** them up. And when that happens theres some idiot behind the wheel who has no clue what they're doing anyway. Ive seen plenty of them spin when they shouldnt have, tip up, ect. But i guess it comes down to people not knowing how to drive to begin with, If the stability bs is the only way to cut back on the retards then so be it. Cause we all know they'll never get smarter on their own and theres to many people buying suvs to stop the manafactuers from making them or doing it any differently, unless of course theres more mandates..

Yeah, right. Just time for every other kind of stupid bullshit.

There's an awful lot of untrue statements in this thread, but none so glaringly untrue as that one.
