Will Tivo turn my cable box on and change the channel or do I have to keep the box on for it to work?

um on a regular cable ready tv the tivo handles that, its got a tuner in it

I have a cable box for pay channels and premium service. It changes the channels but I want to know if I have to leave it on now if Im not going to be home.

How do people get digital cable and pay per view in your part of the world?

To get any type of premium service, like Pay per view, or on demand digital cable, you need a addressable box, they cant send the signal to any tv, just to the special box.
