Got A Tivo Yesturday
#1
I was christmas shopping and wanted to get my GF's parents a new TV since they watch a old *** tiny 27" TV and I cant stand to watch it when we go over there, lol, my salesman who I have been buying from forever is walking me thru the stock area and I notice a brand new un-opened Sony TIVO on the shelf. But they dont sell TIVO there anymore.
I say to him, how much for the TIVO?
He tells me to make him a offer since they dont sell it anymore, so I tell him "how about $150"
SOLD!
This thing is pretty cool, I dont like that much thats on TV and now I can record anything I want and watch it when I want to watch it, which is at odd times. I have a few friends that have it and they love it, Im just a sucker for A/V gear I guess, lol. So yay, early christmas preasant to myself!

Yes, its like $12 a month or $249 for lifetime that you can sell/transfer.
people are selling used Tivos on ebay with lifetimes for $450-500. Until you see one in action you will probably think its a stupid thing like I always used to think, but its really cool because the only time I get to watch tv there is nothing on that I wanted to watch, now it can automatically record things I like to watch and I can watch them whenever I feel like it.
Plus you can pause, rewind live tv as well.
Now I need to upgrade the drive in it to a 120gig, lol.

Tiny 27" TV? Try not to be too much of an elitist.
I would like a TIVO...except that I'd spend all weekend catching up on the Simpsons episodes I miss during the week.

I figure it would be a nice surprise for them when it gets delivered next week.

Stock HD is 30 gig, the new Sony tivo is a 80gig drive, thats the only difference in the newer model and its $449.
This one was selling for $389 in the store I bought it from.
I think Im going to buy a 120gig from this guy on Ebay, with the stock HD I get a total of 170hrs recording time.
