True Story: My grndfather survuve WWII thanks to a Horse in Fremantle.

He was stationed on the USS Harder (A Submarine) during WWII. They pulled into Fremantle for a refit prior to going on a War Patrol. My Grandfather had the day off and was out drinking a few(Ok a lot) of beers and decided to rent a horse. He was riding the horse and fell off, breaking his arm. He was unable to leave with the ship, and all hands were lost when they were overrun by 2 Jap destoyers.

RIP CDR Sam Dealy and the men of the USS HARDER

On a lighter note:

My Grandfather: John R. Glave senior was a QMC(SS) Quatermaster/Submarine Service and retired from the Navy with 28 years service

My Father: John R. Glave Jr. MMCS(SS) Nuclear Machinist Mate/Submarine Service retired after 22 years servic

Me: John R. Glave III MM!(SS) Nuclear Machinist Mate/Submarine Service. I retired (medically) after 13 years in the Navy.

I belive we were the only 3 generation Submarine Sailors in the Navy.
