i play with the guys from work... they have decked out golf bags filled with ping, callaway, and nike clubs.. i have a shitty old set of spalding irons with a 1960's set of ping woods... steel shaft with the wooden heads...
to sum it up.. i can hit my shitty 3 wood farther than our best player can hit his callaway c4 or c5 graphite carbon fiber **** (whatev the **** it is) driver. and my overall game is dead even with them.
from what i've learned, its not the clubs, its the player...

I used to get out maybe three, four times a year, with a few trips to the driving range thrown in. I might have been close to 100 once, but I could never drive the ball straight. It would usually end up taking a right turn and head straight for the woods. Stupid ball!
And put my ball within range of water, and that sucker would be in it like frat boys on a drunk coed. I could be on the edge of a three-foot creek and I'd top the damn thing and roll it in.

[quote name='89 Rag' date='Jun 3 2005, 02:52 PM']Golf is a game that ***** up a nice walk, and I shot in the upper 80's for 18 when I played, it just really cut into my drinking time too much.

We passed a law so you could drink on the course. Really sucked when you got stuck behind a bunch of drunken middle aged women though.

I bought the best I could at that...Taylor Bubble? And a complete fitted Ping set K series. After years of not golf I finally used them this week.
1998-2005. my 3 wood still had the price tag $325!
I still hit straight I just get sore the next morning.

how often do you come over here to the gulfport/biloxi area, if at all?
