im going to japan in febuary,
What city/cities are you going to. I lived in Nagasaki prefecture (Sasebo) for almost 4 years. I miss it big time!

You will feel like a king even if you are 5' 10" like me cause you will look at the tops of their heads they are so short...

Try the beer from the vending machines. It rules to be beligerent and drink a beer on the street.

Look at what they hot rod or rice up. No joke I have seen 3-cylinder Daihatsu's with turbos. It is the funniest thing in the world to hear a 3 cylinder BLOW OFF... What could you boost a 3 cylinder with any way 2PSI?!?

But you will get to see the 95+ FD's The architecture is badass

The girls always cover their mouths when the laugh, 18-25 years old anyway.

Go to a karaoke bar (ka-ra-oh-keh not kari-oki) and check out all the american songs they butcher. I heard this old business dude sing BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (and he sung ALL the parts too)

Try a large or extra large size value meal any where and snicker when they hand you a kids meal size.

OOHHH I need to go back someday. It is awesome

Skylines the civic of Japan? maybe to the on base guys, and of course we are talking GTS LOL!

As for FUJI, might want to count that out, well at least walking up it, little snow hehe

Clubbing, cool. plenty of that here.

Sounds good, have fun. If you get lost or need some help let me know, webpage has my number.

Autobacs are about every 1/4 mile hehe and drinking/buy me drink bars are about every 30 feet. LOL

Other then that, where in Tokyo you going or do you know?

The airport you will actually come into is NARITA, dont let them fool ya, by saying TOKYO International aiport HA! Long story, but when you get off the plane your in Tokyo Prefecture, but about 1hr normal driving NO TRAFFIC from Tokyo CITY! So I hope you know the buses or have someone picking you up, because its a long hike to TOKYO city. Not so far of a hike to RE-Amemiya though hehe, actually its 15-20 mins by taxi.

To touch more on the Tokyo thing

Saying your in Tokyo international airport, it saying like your landing in CALIFORNIA airport, but you need to get to LOS ANGELES. and the CALIFORNIA airport is near SAN DIEGO, but hey your still in CALIFORNIA international airport, right state, WRONG city hehe. Hey you havent got much of a choice.

If your alone, just take the escalator down stairs in the terminal, if there is no downstairs to TRAINS, your in the wrong terminal. I believe only one of the terminals is open now anyway, but just in case. So anyway go down, guess what you see? more gaijin (foreigners) then upstairs, now just follow them. If there is no one, there is a information booth, with glass sliding doors straight off to the right from the escalator you got off from. Go in there and tell them where you need to go, Tokyo. They will understand and probably help you pretty much of where to go. If not, after you get the NARITA EXPRESS or NEX ticket to Tokyo, walk straight out those doors and just go straight to you see the ticket machine in front of your, put the ticket in the little machine, it spits it out the other side and your on your way. Find your seat on the CORRECT train, and relax, its going to be about 1hr-to whatever if its raining or snowing (this case you might be SOL) since the NEX shuts down usually under these conditions.

Yeah I know I could have PMed but this is good info I think for anyone coming into NARITA and needs HELP

Anyway good, luck!

Mt. Fuji is awesome! I climbed it in August of 2001. However, youmay not get to get too far, the climbing season is only a few months out of the summer.

If you want to go clubbing, the Repongi district is the shiz. The only club I can remember by name is Gas Panic LOL but from what I remember it was nice...

If you are joining the Marine Corps, you have options about getting stationed in Japan. You will get a chance to talk to a detailer after your bootcamp, FTX and your MOS training. They will talk to you about getting stationed overseas or domestically. If you can stand the separation, the pay is better and Japan totally kicks ****!

Okinawa 50,000 marines any given Sunday on about a dozen different bases.

Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) 1 hour from Hiroshima (home of RX-7's) there are so many rx-7 clubs and shops and just lots of sevens everywhere!

Camp Fuji is a very small detachment that you pretty much have to wait for someone to die or retire to get orders there. As the name implies it is right at the base of Mt. Fuji-san.

And there are too many Navy Bases around there to count! You could get orders to Marine Detachments to any number of bases in Japan. Good luck in the Corps man.

You do realize that by joining the Marine Corps you will most likely be comming to Japan for a tour of duty don't you? Just get with us after they send you to Okinawa.. We will all probably still be here...
