Well, I was coming home from work today, and i decided to take the long way home. I drove way north of my house, dicking around on the highway, turned around and came home. On my way home I decided to take 120th St. exit instead of the usual 104th St. As I headed down Washington Blvd, I was crusing and having fun when the car behind me changed lanes and revealed a 5-0. (insert ominous music here) He stopped me and wrote me up for expired tags (seven months expired!) and sent me on my way. But because tags are a county jurisdiction and he's a city cop, he had to give me a summons to appear in court on July 12. $85 fine and I have to go to court - no mailing the ticket in! He said, "My suggestion to you is to have you vehicle repaired and re-licensed BEFORE you come to court."
I guess he could have written me up for no front plate, lowered car, exhaust violations, non-DOT seatbelts, speeding, unsafe lane changes, following too closely.. the list goes on!
It's cool that he only wrote me up for that, but gay that I can't just mail it in. Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, and seven months on expired tags is just a tad unreasonable. Guess I'll be putting the cat and airpump back on in the coming days!
