Well I am sure venom can give you a better idea, but I would imagine a good gastation pumps 60,000 to 100,000 gallons a month.

In my friends case, they made most their money off the convenience store, back in the day it was the service portion that made most of the money. Gas just gets you in there.

If all we sold was gas, the place would close in a week. Keep in mind that the 5-10 cent profit has to pay for insurance on the pumps, electrical bills, repairs, and all other operating costs. I think the net profit per gallon is less than 1 cent.

Gas is really only there to get people to come into the store. Once they are inside, they are likely to grab a candy bar, drink, hot dog, or something like that. Those are what makes the money. Ever notice that a candy bar goes for 69 or 79 cents in the gas station and only like 49 or 59 cents in a grocery store? yeah.

around here they make more money at the full serve too, charging a extra 30 cents a gallon or so to let some guy pump the gas for you

most people who make it with a gas station either do service or they own a dozen of them

wow you have to pay for full serve? jersey does that at all gas stations.

its ******* annoying tho, i sorta prefer self-serve because then normally the gas stations are open later and you dont have to worry about anyone but yourself ******* up what gas goes in your car or if you drip it on the car or whatever.

Oh and in NJ, its illegal to leave your car while getting gas unless youre walking into the convenience store area of the gas station.

fucked up law right?

Over here some of the supermarkets sell petrol, and they sell it at a loss to attract people and increase grocery sales. Similarly, petrol stations make far more money from shop sales than actual fuel - and if in the US you're paying close to half what we pay for petrol, then I can't see a huge amount of profitibility in it.

[quote name='venomrx7' date='Aug 10 2005, 05:43 PM']We own 2 of them, one is a Chevron and one is independent. We make 4-6 cents per gallon when prices are as high as they are now, and a lil more when the prices are down closer to normal.

At the Chevron, we don't set our own prices. 5 cents per gallon no matter what...

YEP!

I own a Shell .06 to .10 and it went up again yesterday .10!

I pay rack price+4.5 cents transport.Price is per plant exit time.

I can answer some questions. I was a Hazmat and environemental contractor before this fancy Station. Its called the XSTOP. Got a Gary Fischer on the ceiling ,

surbaords, skateboards, wave and snow boards. Its for my gen...the XGEN.

Next door is my brass coverd bar called BALI.

Something I am doing now.

BTW I pay insurance on how many gallons I sell. It ******* outragous! Gasoline with some of the dumbasses in public can create a major hazard. This is on top of everybody wanting Walmart prices...which cant be done.
