You think a Sail would look strange on a fishing boat??? I figure by the time I get the boat back from the shop I'll need a second mortgage to go fishing for a day w00t!

Station by my house that I always use with from 2.58 for regular to 2.75, insane. And they're usually on the cheap side compared to others in town. I'm gonna go buy some rain pants and start driving the bike every single day. I just need to figure out how to keep my feet dry.

yeah. im about to buy a frikin hybrid
|
buy a turbo diesel.

I have the solution.
Come and live in Ireland for a week or 2 and while you're here buy a car for twice as much money as you're used to paying, then insure and tax it for the same markup and then pay over £5.20 a gallon for petrol. Then you can move on to buying a house https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif Mark |
Beats me. I assumed the alaska reserve. |
I could be incorrect. But as I heard it, basically its just oil that has been "saved" and is sitting at various storage facilities througout the US. Once again, as I heard it this **** has been saved for just this type of occurance.

HOW CONVENIENT

Actually the federal oil reserve was create din the 70s when we were being threatened, its something like 727 Million Barrels of oil.
It is stored in 4 seperate salt mines, underground, 2 in texas and i believe 2 in new mexico...i know two are in texas not positive on the other 2. THe oil can be pumped out at a rate of 4.4 million barrels a day, and it will take 13 days for it to reach and effect the market from the day that bush gives the go ahead. Im surprised no one else has heard of the reserve, its one of the first things bush did when he got in office, the Reserve was at like 60% capacity, he filled it to 100% and left it like that. kevin. |

And I knew that Kerry was for using it up asap, and Bush wanted to hold it for a rainy day. |
Rainy day called Katrina?

nice pun, dick.

The LOOP off my coast is where one in ten barrels in the US is loaded from. All the rigs shut in and the oil tankers on divert for the big bitch.
Transport from all the gulf coast ports except TEXAS is NILL! Sorry. |
how many np'ers did it hit?

The reserves need to be tapped, this **** is getting out of hand, av-gas is looking better by the minute @ 4.10 a gallon. Bulk prices look even better.

av-gas is actually really good for rotaries, sez 94t.

i just payed $3 for premium
|
just use 87, and water injection.
|
i dont think we should tap into the oil reserves, just open up some of the fields in alaska and wherever else they are. the reserve wasnt meant for higher gas prices, but for a time when we have no other way of getting oil. (like in a war and our supply lines were cut off)
|
Harvey Young airport in town sells 100LL for 3 bucks a gallon. Riverside where I work sells it for 3.20 a gallon. Apneablue's car runs better on it too.

Fiirst off the US doesn't use US oil unless it has to, we use foreign oil, there are wells drilled and capped all over the US, I know because my dad helped build some of the facilities in alaska, they have never been touched and aren't part of the "reserves". It's doubtful that opening up the reserves will do much of anything, the oil companies are as always controlling the price, a week ago the refineries couldn't keep up, now they can't get enough oil.
If yer in the stock market I would consider your positions wisely over the next few weeks...... |
drilling alaska is retarded anyways. Anyone who knows the engineering and time it would take to get any platforms, pipelines, and other infastructure up knows that it would take 5-10 years before it was fully operational and had any effect on the market.
I'm for keeping alaska drill free. Go buy a civic for daily driving. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |

gas prices go up to pad the **********ers(oil companies) pockets more..not because there is a shortage...its all about profit..and they know people will continue to buy it...its bullshit..but what can you do about it.
If you read my post, you'll notice I said two things.... we use our oil AFTER we use foreign sources ( i didn't say we NEVER use our oil) and that there are wells capped in Alaska that have never been touched, i didnt say EVERY well in alaska was capped and untouched. Love the smart ass statement, just too bad it didn't make much sense https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Breaking it down into something a little easier to understand, it's like saying "he's a tightwad, he never spends a dime." See we know that he has to spend something otherwise he wouldn't have a house, eat or survive, but figuratively speaking the person would rather "forget his wallet" and have you buy then pay. Like Pete said there is no quick solution, whatever you do now won't have an immediate effect on oil prices.... assuming it ever does. The Alyeska Pipeline which is the pipeline that moved oil from the North Slope to prince william sound is already built, in fact it's the pipeline the afformentioned vessel was gathering oil from, the pipeline is capable of carrying 2 million barrels of oil DAILY and has been operational since the mid 70's. What bush will do is release the oil and have the oil companies pay it back with interest to the reserves..... if he releases the reserves. It's pretty much a joke at this point, gas co's know the usage doesn't change no matter what they charge, so why worry about keeping the prices down? |

Their bottom line is probably the same if they charge $2.50 as if they charge $6 even with people driving less they have a higher mark up.

At some point aviation goes bankrupt too. We just had a big list of airports go on the unapproved list because fuel is too expensive.
