Please allow me to rant on this subject. My first house came with a GE washer. It started tripping the circuit breaker. I replaced a switch. Months later, it took a leak, I replaced the pump. Months later, the motor started SMOKING. I threw the piece of **** out!!!

Then I started shopping. Every major brand (except one) places the freaking pump directly above the motor. Is that asinine or what? What happens when the pump shaft seal fails? The water runs into the motor. Freakin' brilliant!

The ONLY brand I could find that doesn't place the pump directly above the motor is MAYTAG. If this thing breaks, I plan on getting the parts and fixing it myself, and the DESIGN is what makes it better. Maytag rules. All the other **** is built to be on the trash heap in five years or less!
