The best fighter plane is a hard subject, it sure isnt the spitfire, ok maybe for England.

1.USA- P-38 Lightning

2.Germany- Stuka



Bombers

1.USA- B-17

As for the bombers there was only one that stands out like this one. I dont think any other plane could fly in the shape that these flew in. Some were actually reported making landings back in England, missing parts of wings, and with big assed holes in the side. Tell me a spitfire could do that. The B-17 is by far the greatest prop airplane of a time.
