******* Mortgage
Im soo jealous. A 1k foot condo where i live is roughly 400k. I looked at some nice 1,800 sq foot condos, no back yard or front yard: 800k. If and when i buy a place here, i have to get an interest only loan.
for 190k, here you can buy an acre and have a house built. (my stepmom's stepmom is doing that right now) get outta there!
and when you do leave, get a big paper cup, fill it with chocolate mousse and shaving cream, pinch the top flat, shove the flat end under her door, and stomp.

The cost of living differences around the country are pretty amazing.
Our house is ~1600sq. ft. and ran us about $140K, corner lot 150ft deep (big back yard), 2 car garage, etc.
My sister in law just bought a house SW of San Antonio ("the valley"), ~1200sq.ft. $25K.
I don't think I could handle a condo. I like having neighbors, but not sharing a wall.
Good luck
