I was taking a sharp turn going around 45mph and the backend came around and i could not get out of it car just slide with no control and ended up here. Nothing really happened to the car i took the beach picture later today. You have to love your beater car.

That really sucks but you have to tip your hat to the beater 1G non-turbo DSM

Might have been a little sand on the road? Regardless, it would appear that you exceeded your car's cornering limits in this case.

Torque steer? When you floor it in a FWD it turns one way due to the engine's torque.

Nope not torque steer, definatley reached cornering capabilities of at least the tires i think. The car felt like i had hit the e brake and the rear came out if i where to have pulled out of it it would have been an official FWD drift. the back end came out around like if i was doing a power slide into the turn that was not fun but definatley a learning experience.

PERFORMANCE DRIVING + CHEAP TIRES = DITCH

understeer: the front of the car hits the wall

oversteer: the rear of the car hits the wall

horsepower is how fast you hit the wall

and torque is how far you take the wall with you

The Mini Cooper I had was set up to oversteer. I had replaced the springs, shocks and rear swaybar to induce more oversteer on purpose.

The funny part is you kind of have to drive it differently than my RX7 and it took some getting used to.

I could steer with my right foot in the Mini and that was a welcome change to a car that just wanted to push through every corner I drove in to on the track and in Autocrosses. It used to be a understeering monster.

You can also encounter oversteer in any FWD car if your going too fast into a curve and decide to lift mid corner and transfer the weight forward. Its counter intuitive to stay in the throttle or adjust it lightly. If your too hot in a turn you want to lift, its natural to do so. Thats when the fun starts.

Go play in an empty parking lot, if you get up some speed and lift the rear will come out, then plant the gas back down and steer where you need to go.

Last auto-x I went to, a friend had his Tiburon with a new adjustable rear sway bar. He would spin in every sharp corner, the rear sway was too tight. It was painful to watch, he spun on maybe 4 turns of one run.
