I just stayed there for 4 nights (business/pleasure), and from what I could tell it seemed like a very nice area. Where I was staying, called Cranes Roost in Uptown Altamonte, was part of a new development, including high-dollar apartments, fancy dining/shopping, a nice city park lake/walking trail; there's also a pretty popular (not scummy) large mall there. Lots of new development. The restaurants we ate at were all nice, and the other customers there looked to be the 35-and-white-collar-family-types, or the I-just-retired-with-a-nice-nestegg types.

I lived in Altamonte Springs almost 20 years ago. Its a beautiful area and just to the northwest of you (maybe 20-30 minute ride) is Lake County and some great roads to drive.

These guys put on awesome Autocross events.

I try to run 1 or 2 of their events a year.

You can look into Longwood and Apopka too as potential area to live.

Also, once you get to the the area there are a lot of backroads you can drive to keep off of 436 and all the traffic.

I have nothing but fond memories of the area, the people are friendly and there is a lot to do.

Found the new place already. Took a bit to figure it out but after seeing the places down wymore covered in mold and deciding the condos were over priced right next door i went down the 436 a few blocks and found the barrington at mirror lake. Got a good deal on the place i think. Its gated and they let my wolf in at the lower pet rate for the ankle biters and the like. Saw a few 7s while i was looking at the other places but atleast i have the comfort of knowing ill have the only vert in the area. I just sold my 3 going back to dailying the vert or maybe get a crotch rocket just for going to work. New issue is finding a place to be able to work on the car...
