alright gang,

I recently got a speeding ticket for doing 74 in a 50. It was on the pallisades parkway and the traffic was almost non-existing. it was me and 3 other cars... We were all going the same speed, I was in the left lane behind one other car, while the other two were in the right. The cop caught me via radar... and the conversation went as usual...

cop: What's the rush?

me: no rush.

cop: do you know you were speeding?

me: no, I was just following everyone else.

cop: license and registration

me: ok..

cop: come back with the ticket (forgets my license and resigration in his car)

me: can I have all my documents back

cop: oh... (goes gets it and then comes back)

cop: you have to slow down... blah blah

so my question is, aside from getting a lawyer because it's already a given, what else is there that I can do so that I can protect my record! I already have 5 points on it cus I was stupid enough not to go to court for another speeding offense I had....

I was thinking of saying I had a radar jammer in my car, but I don't know if that's going to open up another can of worms...

active radar jammer is illegal is almost every state. and passive one can be detected very easily. So don't even try.

you might be able to get a lawyer and pay him some money... they sometimes can get a speeding ticket down to a parking ticket or something like that. You might still pay the original fine, plus the lawyer fee... but no record involved.

hahaah calibrated...

there is another law in the united states... if you got clocked by the radar, you are allowed to request to see the reading on their display. They cannot reject you.

Tip 1: Don't say: "Wow...I didn't know radar guns even went up that high!"

Lawyers can almost always get your speeding ticket knocked down to a non-moving violation, so I'd say leave it at that and don't worry.

...or know your cops

I've been pulled over twice, no ticket! (more than 20mph over limit each time)
