I've been through 5 hurricanes and while they didn't come in and spoon feed people, they got things sorted out for those without homes eventually. The worst was not having power for 2 weeks, but we lived.

OH and aparantly we already have 5000 of those refugees coming to Tulsa that FEMA booked rooms and apartments for.

FEMA just bought out every complex in my town. We had some not even finished. They are 1st class. I hope I can take advantage of it as a business owner that loss a bit recently!

You will be offered a loan through the SBA at low interest. They do not "give" money to businesses.

I certainly don't want to belittle your experience as you've been through 5 hurricanes inland where they are usually downgraded to worst case a tropical storm, having only been through TWO at the eye where the LANDFALL was made (at the storms strongest point) and not having had water, food, etc.. (spoonfed as you referred too it I think). I personally never got the opportunity to moor my boat in my back yard like this

I'll assume you've had a similar experience, but still that's pretty fucked up

A little spoonfeeding might have been helpful to this person.... maybe even a bottle of water, 4 ounces is good, but 8 a day is even better.

I lived at Wrightsville Beach NC, right on the water. 5 hurricanes and 3 eyes, one cat 3 and the rest were 2's. In 96 we had 3 in the span of about 2 months. We had flooding, half the trees on our very wooded lot were down so bad we couldn't see the house. Couple clipped the garage and my bedroom. Last hurricane Floyd I think, flooding was so bad I couldn't get to my house for a couple days, and when I did I waded through chest deep water for a half mile.....so I know what hurricanes are all about. And yes boats were everywhere, along with everyone elses ****.

The flooding sucks, we had little of that here. I wonder how the people in alabama or mississippi are feeling right now? Left out in the cold. To be honest I would not worry much about a 2 or a 3 in the future, having gotten one of each here. A 4 I would be sweatin and I dunno if I would even bother boarding up for a 5, I'd prolly just right the **** off.

When jean and frances hit here we had plenty of money for food and water, problem was you couldn't get it here. We had plenty of food stacked up and we didn't take any food or water from FEMA, they were always out, I did take water from Bank of America, they seemed to have plenty throughout the day. like I said I wasn't trying to undermine your experience, nor more own and my point of this topic, although some may feel it was in some way directed at GW, was directed at FEMA.

Yeah the cat 3 was pretty bad for our area, wouldn't want to stick around for anything more than that. We boarded up, stocked up on food and all the normal things you'd want. Had a generator to keep things running too.

Like you mentioned before (i think) the being without power is a real bitch, I would hate to do it right now, it was costing us like $20 a day or so to run the generator, fuggin SCARY to think what it would cost now!

I wonder if our new high efficiency AC would run off it, oh well I guess that's a bit off topic.
