Fema Director Brown Needs To Be Relieved Now
#11
I heard Bush say already that he was pleased with the response from the people in charge, but not happy with the results. They have been doing a decent job of recovering people off roofs, trees, ect... with the choppers. Saved a lot of lives that way at least. As far as the people in the stadium goes, that seems like a cluster ****. They should air drop some supplies to them or something till they can get in there, I know its not that hard to do. Then again they probably already wasted all the food and supplies they looted, which is perfectly fine, but just loved seeing them stealing TV's and **** they don't need. The best was watching two female cops stealing **** out of wal-mart in a shopping cart...stuff like purses. Then you got snipers shooting at the hospital and the choppers. Its probably the worst natural disaster in the history of the US, thousands will be dead, the city will be rebuilt (above sea level this time hopefully), and life will go on FEMA or not.

You go rfreeman27. It isn't easy running things. It may look easy but its not. From what I've heard the reason it was so bad was because we took too long to react to the disaster. We stood around and watched things happening too long before we did any real relief help. I just love how its becoming a race issue now about how if the stranded people were white the relief would have came faster and better. Yeah right. but what do i know.

Fema misappropreates funds like no other, the people in charge of the organization should be dragged out in the street and shot.
I think it a priority that when something bad happens in this country we do drop everything and fix it asap! Why the hell not, **** the dune coons and thier goddamn oil fields halfway around the world, bring the troops and thier collective skills back to where they will do the best, fix home and fix it now!

I am not suprised at all by the comments here, I could have seen them coming a mile away, especially from the sources they came from, I honestly don't feel Bush is to blame, I do feel that with all of the billions of dollars spent on the homeland security (which FEMA is a part of) we should have a better response to our citizens than what we witnessed. It was too little, too late and it's a disgrace.
You may say it's a tough job, etc, etc... but I my very point was that the billions of dollars thrown at FEMA could be MUCH better spent, FEMA is a joke, a waste of taxpayers money and a provider of a false sense of security, I have seen them in action right here in my very own town, have you? I feel I have the right to scrutinize them as I have first hand, without relying on the media seen their work.... or lack there of.
What do I propose? I propose we throw that money at a few sources. One the management responsibility should be directed at the military/ national guard, this is our state militia, their job is to protect the people of their state, with the money given to FEMA they could easily do more good then FEMA, the military is familiar and trained to work in terrible conditions, feeding thousands and rescue and recovery, it's an obvious choice in my decision.
One of the few gov't bodies I saw doing anything the day after was the Coast Guard one of the most budget limited departments in the gov't.
You justify liberating the Iraqi people even though men are being killed daily by insurgents and yet you justify not rescuing the masses because a small % is shooting at them??? Seems similar situations for both, tI guess the poor folks of new orleans don't have as much to offer as the Iraqi people do.
Do I think this is a race issue? No, I think it's a class issue. I don't know how many people I have heard say "well they should have gotten out". These people are dirt poor, the US has 12.9% of it's population living under the poverty level which is something like $18,000 for a family of 4, 30% of the 450,000 people in new orleans are under that poverty level, they simply could not afford to leave, they have no car, no money and no place to go.
Letting US citizens on US soil die from dehydration with the resources we supposidly had available is sickening, FEMA bragged 4 days before the storm how prepared they were and were still bragging after the storm when people were dying.

Dude that ****'s fucked up. Too bad no one's actually gonna heed any of your advice. Most times, those in charge are too far removed from what they're managing that they have no ******* clue what's actually going on. It's not an excuse, its appalling.
