While everyone on this site would agree that Dr. Felix Wankel was an extremely brilliant and devestatingly handsome Demigod...I really don't think he's had some monstrous impact on society. I mean, as cool as the rotary engine is...it wasn't the first internal combustion engine. Now *that* would be something that our world would be drastically different without. I really don't think our world would be too terribly skewed from it's current state without the rotary engine....maybe I'm wrong, you know, all that "butterfly flaps its wings...turns into a hurricane" stuff, or however the saying goes. I just don't think he's really on any list of people who impacted any society outside of the automotive / aeronautics industries.
