That's correct. It's not as fun as sitting at home but I like it better than anything else I've done. I've been here 4 years now. Started training to be an Assistant Unit Operator and held that position until I took my UO exams about 8 months ago. Been happy ever since. I have gained some pounds since I sit on my *** all day long though. The only bad part of the job is swing shifts, but I wouldn't trade my gov't job for anything because they pay too much money for what they ask of me in return. What power company are you affiliated with?

Yeah, I get paid a lot for doing almost nothing. I don't even have a degree! I have come to understand that I am being paid for what I may need to do and know someday, not necessarily what I do or know today. I work for Xcel Energy (Public Service Co. of Colorado, Southwestern Public Service and Northern States Power), headquartered in Minneapolis. The trading operations are in Denver.

Cool. That's about like me, we get paid so well because we are supposed to be albe to operate in emergency situations.
