Sorry Twin89stangs, but it's a FORD... what would you expect.

I've owned 2 fords and sad to say they both sucked! One brand new and had more problems then ANY car I have ever owned. My brand new Ford Escort had a water leak problem that it took the dealer 8 times to fix, they bauked at my car poping out of gear until finally it was recalled. My Aerostar with it's wonderful AL4D Transmission was a nightmare. Search the net for AL4D and you will find hundreds of pissed off Ranger, Explorer and Aerostar owners with transmission problems. I don't think Ford Designers make things to last, they just need to be cheap.

Anyone can take a BIG engine and stuff it into a small car (Insert your vavorite muscle car here)... but only a few automakers actually design performance vehicles (Mazda, BMW, Honda VTec, Mitusbishi, Subaru).
The Ford 302 is a champ though, I have seen 302HO's, and 302's going well over 200,000 miles, I know of one Town Car of a old customer of mine with the 302 in it that went 525,000 miles, then I lost touch with the guy, so who knows how long it ran after that, the thing never even had a valve cover off it. I would check the distributor for one, mark it before you take it out of course, then check the teeth, I know of a few people who had the distributor loose a tooth on them and it baffled them to no end. You did your tune up, did you clean the EGR and throttle body out? Have you ever changed the little mesh screen UNDER the PCV valve? You cant even see it, but its there, youll need a long needle nose pliers to get that one out of there, also plan on paying across the fender to access it anyhow.. Never mind, I just read the rest of the this thread, sucks about the cylinder head!

None of your mods list a fuel pump or regulator upgrade, I would do that if your doing the rest.

I had considered a 190 lph pump... but if I go with the GT40P head it will not be necessary....

But yeah when I pulled the passenger side plugs is when I got tipped off to it. Solid black and coated with oil. Which meant bad vavle guides and such. Then I noticed a small leak and an increasingly pinging sound.

So no matter what I will need a rebuilt head. But I am more than sure it is warped as are plenty of my friends.

As far as the EGR... yes it is failing but it is pretty clean! lol

Throttle body isnt too bad just had it off about 3-4 weeks ago...

So I will be parking her and she will undergo some repairs and upgrades before heading back out onto the street....

All these haters, meanwhile your car can probably spank 1/2 of them with its tired engine, lol Youll do those mods, and the car will run like a dream, no need to program the ECM to do it either, then it will spank at least 3/4 of them.

Nice!

What kind of a setup? I got a buddy who went ***** out on his mustang but he aint that great of a driver and he picked a road race suspension then matched it with a 347 4 bolt with Incon Twin turbos topped it off with a BXR intake with Forged and titanium internals.... dont even want to know what kind of cash is tied up in the motor alone....

I have no clue, him and the rest of his Mustang pals are in competition with each other and dont give out info, but trust me, the car is fast, 13bace saw the pic in his office of the car doing its wheel stand at the track. I constantly bust his ***** about being carbed, and N/A, there was a sick *** turbo Mustang at KOOKS when 13ace went there to get his turbo manifold made, I bet that car is a sub-7 second car at the least.

yeah my buddy went down the track a few times... first pass.... 10.47 forget what speed... but that was on only 8lbs of boost!

when we swapped on slicks and upped the boost to 12lbs he went pretty well into the 9's... not bad for being a street driven stang....
