This guy came up to me and says that he has a Honda Civic that runs an 8.52 time at this track outside of Fort Worth. Now I thought that was damn fast for any Civic until I remembered that the track is an 1/8th mile track and not 1/4.

What, roughly, would a time like that translate into in a 1/4? I know you just don't double the time but I am curious. A lot of you guys are familiar with drag racing and times and I am just curious how great this guy thinks his car really is.

Any thoughts?

The conversion factor roughly 1.55 for most cars. Cars with a strong top end generally are slightly lower. Some high-powered RX7's get down to around 1.52.

8.5 * 1.55 = 13.1
