to be honest, i didn't think that the Enzo was going to have the balls, but have you guys read the July Road & Track? they have the Enzo beating out the "king" McLaren F1 in 0-60 (3.3), 1/4 mile (11.1), skidpad (1.01g) AND slalom (73.0)

that is just insane, excuse me while i go change my pants.

Joe Flo 06-03-2003 10:12 PM

Yeah the only thing the Rx7 comes close to on either of those cars is the skidpad https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

TYSON 06-03-2003 10:57 PM

I wouldn't get upset. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png It took ten years and a million dollar car to top the skidpad by 0.02. Skidpad is the same as the Z06 and Viper.

All of those test numbers mean **** ALL for those 2 cars. They are meant for high speed on a real race track. 0-60, quarter mile, 200 ft skidpad, 600 ft slalom? Apply these to a road course. They never go SLOW enough for the skidpad to mean anything, they never have to swerve back and forth 4-5 times in that tight of situation either. 0-60? ONCE, at the start line IF they have a standing start. Numbers for the second half of the quarter would reflect acceleration out of a corner, I guess.

They need to get on a track and compare instantaneous G on high speed corners. Acceleration from 60 to 150 mph. Real data that would reflect the purpose of these cars.

Put some R-compounds on a Mini Cooper S and it throws out slalom and skidpad numbers like that. And those cars came with rubber not far short of R-compound.

BTW The Mclaren is FAR sexier than the Enzo. F50 is better looking than both. Pagani Zonda C12 is where I would spend my money if I won a big lottery.

j9fd3s 06-03-2003 11:28 PM

id still buy an f40, its super cool

FikseRxSeven 06-03-2003 11:38 PM

well, how long did it take ferrari to reach the same level as the mc laren f1? plus the 3.4 0-60 that the mclaren had are for the US legal mclaren.......they turn in 3.2 when they come out of the factory

rx7 can bang with those cars in braking also......... they just forgot to mention it and fuel economy also....hehe

FikseRxSeven 06-04-2003 01:10 AM

i don't mean breaking parts...... those exotics are pretty reliable i heard...hehe.

But i think the car that will top the enzo is the veyron. costing $1,100,000 at 1001 hp, that **** better be on top.

TurboSmoke 06-04-2003 01:14 AM

i drove a F40 once. when i was detailing it was bad ass. i took it out for a lil spin. that bitch is bad. Twin Turbo's hell yea. that bitch pulled hard as ****. i did not like the seats. very uncomffy. lol

badass7 06-04-2003 01:19 AM

What about this Badboy........ http://hobbystage.net/porsche/ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

ThirdGenRX7 06-04-2003 09:09 AM

I'd still take the mclaren over the enzo just because I think it's sexier https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

cmartinp28 is right. the McLaren F1 pulled a 3.2 sec 0-60 from factory. it was only the US one that ran the 3.4. also the McLaren hits 241 or a little higher i beleive, and hits the 1/4 mile in 11.1sec as well.

wraith 06-04-2003 09:56 AM

then there was the McLaren F1 LM 0-60 in 3.6 sec......can you even imagine that?!?!?!

75 Repu 06-04-2003 10:20 AM

Mclaren are still sexy.. I love em..

I think it may have been in road and track, or another mag. I read this month, anyway,,,, That enzo, some old dude has one here in the states, it cost hom $6000 for brake pads, $20,000 for rotors, and he hast to use "special" oil in the car to keep the warranty. 11 quarts @$80/qt!!!!

wraith 06-04-2003 03:07 PM

yeah **** that no car is worth that much bullshit i would just become a certified ferrari mechanic and do the **** myself probably cheaper in the long run, and it looks cool on a resume https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

ThirdGenRX7 06-04-2003 03:51 PM

remove pants, bend over, await penatration

kkw4p 06-04-2003 04:13 PM

I'm not picky. I'd take any of the cars you guys mentioned above. Even an FD. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

GarageBoy 06-04-2003 06:54 PM

308s need a pair of distributor caps. $900! And the Enzo article is in Car and Driver. I still want a F40 (pure sports car)

Also...I was talking to a member of the rx7clu of houston and he was talking about some birtish car that was in the Gumball rally with him, which he claims can beat the McLarens top speed. It was British I think but cant remember the damn name of it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

i agree, you have to remember that owners paid between $6-700,000 for their Enzo, and they are only being sold to owners with a "good history" with Ferrari, i.e. having owned several Ferraris in the past. so if this is your 5th or 6th Ferrari, $2k for pads is like pocket change.

Was it the TVR speed 6 or 12? Those are the only two cars that I can think of that might stand a chance.

not sure if they're british, but the veyron and the konnigseig-(sp) both claim to be able to beat the McLaren, but have not proven it on a track! was the car he talking about an actual production vehicle because McLaren claims fastest production vehicle not fastest vehicle.

ThirdGenRX7 06-05-2003 09:20 AM

i alwasy thought top speed was kind of a useless measure since you are never going to actually go that fast... and if you are then the odds are you'll never be able to afford a car that will take you that fast https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

wraith 06-05-2003 09:33 AM

true, but how cool is it to say hey if i wanted to i could hit 241 mph

Dysfnctnl85 06-05-2003 09:37 AM

Ever heard of John Carmack?

He owns a Ferrari GT(O) can't remember and I'm not a Ferrari aficionado...he rebuilt the engine, now it's an aluminum twin-turbo V12. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

Anyways, he's the creator of all things cool: Doom and Quake.

wraith 06-05-2003 09:39 AM

yeah he's rich i hate him i will strive my entire life to achieve 1/5 of what he has..........am i bitter YES. stupid programers and their ferrari sports cars.

TYSON 06-05-2003 09:40 AM

Carmack has a Testarossa and some others.

The Testarossa is a flat-12? His was 1300 hp on pump gas in the article I read.

ThirdGenRX7 06-05-2003 09:44 AM
